About Me

                                Welcome to Fran's Cakes
     Hi!  My name is Fran and I'm the baker behind the name.  I am a recently retired RN and I live with my wonderful husband in Gulfport, Florida.  We live near some of the best beaches in the world such as St Pete Beach, Treasure Island, and Clearwater.  I have a beautiful step daughter and lots of grand children so there's always a party or celebration in the works.
     My Mom was the inspiration behind my baking.  I have fond memories of my Mom's sour cream pound cake, German chocolate cake, and mile high coconut cream pies.  I used to bake a lot for friends, coworkers, and family but that got put on the back burner due to being a busy nurse.   
     My husband and I love to cruise and travel.  As I look back over my cruise pictures, it's mostly pics of the beautiful cakes at the buffet.  I guess we do eat with our eyes!
     Now that I have retired from nursing,  I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life, doing the things that inspire me!
